Fractals

“My process for writing and revision varies based on the type of writing I’m working on. For poetry, sometimes I won’t revise at all, and have trouble changing a poem after I’ve completed it.”

Fractals

In entrails,
on boulevards,
over seas,
played through a tube amp;

cut by laser lights
in the shape of butterflies,

fell from many stories
over unsuspecting heads,

blood coins posited
into a bathroom sink;

before I was here;
before you were here;
before any of us
were here, there was
Paradise
on Earth,

placed on a trivet
with steam rising up
from somewhere deep
within

the coiled intestine
of a tuba,

the hollow atrium
of a pepper,

the gold trick
of twilight,

the dancing atoms
in our legs.

My name is Brooks Harris and I am a sophomore at DePaul University, currently studying theatre arts in the theatre school and minoring in creative writing. I am from Los Angeles, California and I love reading, writing, fonts, taking walks, playing guitar, and I am still discovering what interests me.
