You and I.

“I often share my writing and get feedback that helps me maximize clarity. Sharing my poems with the DePaul Writing Center allows me to improve their clarity in imagery and organization.”

You and I.

we meet in familiar places
you are everywhere
though you are nothing to me
Yet
the bruises on my hips and
a stain on black denim,
evidence of your violent release
and my satisfied smile
send me back to you

danger
and another feeling so foreign to me
i crave your touch
sometimes
all the time

but not really you
the you from that moment
maybe
but more likely the me from the moment
the me that exists always in that night
the memory

i dream of your nimble fingers
the rough brush of stubble on my cheek
you could have been anyone
it would not change the way i feel about you
the me you and i built in that moment

passion and fire
burning from inside of me
i want the fire
i want
to step back into the platforms that brought my lips a bit closer to yours
to stumble backward with my hands grasping for your contact

i don’t remember your face
i never registered your name
but your feeling is eternal
