Hello, dear, hi.
Did
you
eat
today?
Your makeup is smeared.
I’ll fix it, hold on.
And your tights are ripped,
I’ll buy you new ones.
Stayed up late, huh?
There’s only three strings
around your fingers now.
What did you forget?
The dog, right. You
forgot to bring him inside
and he ran away.
He’ll come back when
he gets hungry.
Or he won’t and
it’s time to let go.
Do I think you’re a bad person?
No, I think you’re weird.
You hold your breath while
driving past cemeteries.
You call me and
hang up when I answer.
Do you still look pretty?
Don’t ask stupid questions.
Let me get the knots
out of your hair.
The mirrors don’t help,
I know. Smash them
if you want.
Yeah, I remember the
glass table you broke
at Ikea when you were
five. That’s how it must
feel, right? The fragility
of the table, the shame
of breaking it.
You’re not broken,
are you?
It’ll pass. You can
break things without
ruining them.
